Stationen is a restaurant in Longyearbyen opened in July 2018. We serve traditional Norwegian food alongside with international dishes. Everything is home made with compassion and served with an original touch.
We have a wide and varied menu consisting of dishes suitable for lunch and dinner. We also have a daily special with focus on traditional Norwegian cuisine. Our large beer selection and our broad wine- and bar menu complement the food.

Stationen is at a quite historical place in Longyearbyen mining history. Lompensenteret, which is now a shopping mall, was a former wardrobe for the miners. The corner of the building where we are located was earlier «cafè Busen», the local cafè where the miners were served traditional Norwegian food alongside with good stories about everyday life in Longyearbyen.

The name Stationen and the design is after another, but as well important, part of Svalbard history; the whale hunting period from the early 17th- and late 18th century. During this period all eyes in Europe was on Svalbard and the values marine life could offer. Whale hunting stations were established on large parts of the island, and it is from here we have take the name Stationen, and in our design we want to expess this great period. And there is of course a whale dish or two on the menu!

  • Stationen is in the city center and taxi will go directly to the entrance. It is a grate outside and one doorstep in. Stationen lies inside the shopping center about 5 meters from entrance.
  • We will easily adjust for wheelchair or similar needs. Talk to our Staff upon arrival.
  • It is about 10 meters from Stationen entrance to toilets. This also includes a Disabled Toilet.
  • Stationen has good lighting and has low background music.
  • Table service.
  • Stationen ligger midt i sentrum inne i kjøpesenteret, taxi går til inngang. Bruk inngang mot parkeringsplass/COOP for kortest avstand. Det er en rist utenfor og dørstokk. Stationen ligger inne på senteret ca. 5 meter fra inngang.
  • Vi tilpasser enkelt for rullestol, krykker eller lignende behov. Snakk med personalet vårt ved ankomst.
  • Det er ca. 10 meter fra Stationens inngang til toalettene inne på senteret. Her er også handicaptoalett.
  • Restauranten er godt belyst og har lav bakgrunnsmusikk.
  • Servitører tar bestilling ved bordet.

Vi har vært Miljøfyrtårnsertifisert siden 2022 og jobber kontinuerlig med å begrense matsvinn og velge de beste produkter fra bevisste leverandører. For eksempel serverer vi en standard porsjon «dagens middag», men har du hatt en aktiv dag og ønsker påfyll så er dette inkludert. Vi er bevisst på at fra produktet kjøpes inn, fraktes, tilberedes og havner på tallerkenen din at vi gir deg en god matopplevelse og at vi sitter igjen med minst mulig avfall og matsvinn.

We have been Eco-Lightning certificated since 2022 and are continually working with limiting food waste and to choose the best products from suppliers with an environmental focus. We serve for instance a standard portions "daily dinner", but if you have had an active day and want refill then this is included. We are conscious that from a product is bought, delivered, prepared, and served on your plate that we give you a good food experience, and leaves us with minimum food waste and garbage.
